Title: Heritage: Viking girl's longings

Description: Heritage Day, 24 September, prompted me to think about my own heritage which is that of the Vikings. The small stones represent the rune stones they were written on. Embroidered onto the background are runes that express such things as love, joy, health and blessings from the Goddess, things for which a young Viking girl might long.

Title: Mandelbrot

Description: I have a fascination with the visual images generated by fractal geometry. There is so much beauty in fractals and there are infinite possibilities, some of which are found in nature. Art and science are not opposites, they intersect substantially.

Title: Mazes

Description: I was feeling very lost, with a sense of having walked the same paths over and over, only to become more lost and unable to find a way out.

Title: Protect Me

Description: I felt vulnerable and in need of protection from the external threats posed by crime and the internal threat posed by a growing depressive episode. Metal conjured up the image of bullet-proof for me. My passion for recycling led me to the use of metal from cool drink cans to create a protective amulet. Strands of yarn and beads hang in front of the metal symbolising hiding behind a long fringe of hair, providing a further layer of protection. Left-over, unused, hair extension fibre was passed on to me by a friend.
