Title: Star Birth

Description: I was born and schooled in Potchefstroom. I studied Graphic Design at Pretoria Art School in the 60’s. I have also attended the St. Luke’s Art School in Onrust River in 2000, to ‘update’ myself in painting techniques.

I have been employed as an Advertising Artist/Graphic Designer for 15 years before retiring as a freelance. Since 1986 I have expanded my interest to the quilting world and fabric design. I have also progressed as a teacher in aspects of drawing, design and fabric art – from beginners to advanced classes. Since 1998 I have become involved with beginners at grassroots level – developing projects to teach previously disadvantaged communities.

I am fascinated with 4/5/6 sided shapes interlocking with colour and line. This has been my inspiration for this little piece.

Title: Introspection

Description: I look at our interaction with each other, and our connectivity with nature - all intricately interwoven. I try to express in thread, stitch and cloth these encounters and hope that the essence of our beings do connect with one another and that we are nourished from within by the exposure to nature’s wonders. Therefore the question: Are we always aware of the blessings and enrichment that derives from being alive, well, fed and nourished in body,soul and spirit - or do these merely trickle away?
