Landmarks

Landmarks

Bo-Kaap Collage

Bo-Kaap Collage
Catherine Knox

Title: Bo-Kaap Collage

Description: A semi abstract representation of the Bo-Kaap area on the flank of Lions Head, Cape Town. It was always a provisional place, never quite coming to full realisation, a quality represented here by a collage-building process that peters out as it approaches the lower edge of the work, fading in simple outline.

Dimensions: 76cm x 110cm

Materials: Cotton fabrics, machine stitched and quilted.

Exhibition: Widely exhibited earning several awards.

Climate Change

Climate Change
Catherine Knox

Title: Climate Change

Description: A gaping scar disrupting the surface speaks of catastrophe - a meteorite strik, a sink-hole, or similar. To ritualise this ominous geography, it is surrounded by the equivalent of standing stones, in this case morphed into human figures. They display various degrees of casual disinterest, oblivious of the warning

Dimensions: 35 x 45 cm

Materials: Cotton paper, torn and stained, hand-stitched, acrylic colour (matt and metallic)

Exhibition: GFI Gallery in Gqeberha
