Description
I created this installation artwork (including the Mandela sculpture by Bheki Gumbi) to honour Tata Madiba's legacy, fighting for inequality in RSA. He is represented here as a world icon, standing in the center of these colorful, crotcheted wool installation pieces and recycled bottle caps. Mandela is standing as if he is pondering - "Why is the world like this?". Each piece is representing a country since most countries were touched by his teachings of spreading peace and coexisting harmoniously. The question is, are we still following his steps? If not, what should be done? The green sheet is shrinking and shaking, it is supposed to protect the world, the environment and its resources which we are busy polluting and damaging.
