Description
After 2 years of lockdown we were able to take a holiday to the coast. In this piece a bright, glowing moon above a restless sea, refers to the difficult prior years of Covid. The tides rise and fall are caused by the combined forces exerted by the moon, the sun and the rotation of the earth. To capture this phenomenon, a variety of materials were used to portray the beauty and mysteriousness of nature. The composition was developed by choosing fabrics and colours that would reflect the tempestuousness of life. Layering of varied fabrics lace, netting and stitch draw the piece together.
